A friend told me a story about an Alpha used exclusively as a network
server.  Out of the box, it was set up to use one of the cool 3D OpenGL
screen savers with the real-time texture mapping.  Whenever this kicked
in, the network basically came to a halt.  It took a while to figure out
what was happening, since the Alpha's monitor normally wasn't even on.
